LEGO is one of those brand names that makes you smile. Most likely, little LEGO model was your first car. In fact, at one point LEGO was the biggest tire manufacturer in the world, just because they made so many little tires and wheels for their models. Nissan GT-R is a truly remarkable car. Manufactured since 2007 it remains one of the fastests things on the road. NISMO is an even a quicker version of the GT-R. Its engines is hand-built in a factory that looks more like a laboratory or an artist’s studio than an industrial plant. It is truly a work of art. However, you can only buy one – you cannot assemble one yourself.

Except that now you can. LEGO Nissan GT-R NISMO is a cool toy and a 3-dimensional puzzle. Creators of it hope that it will encourage children to learn more about engineering. Niels B. Christiansen, LEGO Group CEO, said: “Just as engineers across decades have improved the design and performance of this car, children build, unbuild and rebuild during play – stimulating and developing crucial skills, such as creativity, resilience, problem-solving and critical thinking. Inspiring them to become the builders of tomorrow is our mission”.

Of course, real Nissan GT-R NISMO is very different from its LEGO clone, although there is one major similarity – both provide endless amount of fun. LEGO Nissan GT-R NISMO took approximately 12 months to develop, while the real car was perfected over the course of 12+ years. And it doesn’t come as a surprise, because GT-R NISMO is made up of over 90,000 parts – a normal amount for a car. Meanwhile LEGO Nissan GT-R NISMO has 298 parts. Unsurprisingly, LEGO version is also quite a bit lighter at 193 grams vs 1720 kg that the real car weighs.

Building LEGO Nissan GT-R NISMO should take around one hour, after which you will have a lot of fun playing with the car. Meanwhile the real car is assembled in 8 hours, which doesn’t include that hand-built motor. Both cars looks very similar in detail. People who are going to buy LEGO Nissan GT-R NISMO will be happy to see how well lights, colours and the silhouette is recreated in this toy version. Attention to detail is very nice – even the shape of the alloys matches.
