Overview

Leveraging data to provide better quality control and improve services has become a key theme for the automotive industry. Volkswagen would like to take a step further to use data science to drive quality improvements. One critical requirement to obtain data is customers’ willingness to share their diagnostic and usage data. Thus, the Seeker is looking for novel ideas and concepts to incentivize customers to grant permission to access diagnostic and car usage data in their cars.

Solutions should be based on these diagnostic and car usage data elements but may also utilize additional data (for example, data collected from vehicles or data obtainable from a user’s smartphone) in order to provide attractive services, features/app functions, or additional digital services around the car that can add value for customers and/or be fun for drivers. Solvers should also take current Volkswagen Connect app functions into consideration so as to not duplicate already available features.

Submissions to this Challenge must be received by 11:59 PM (US Eastern Time) on June 3, 2019.
