Have you ever wanted to install a micro hydro power plant at your home? Of course, you need a flow of water to make it work, but in construction terms its size is truly small. The company behind this technology, Turbulent Hydro, currently produces models that can generate from 15 kW to 100 kW of power, depending on the scale of the equipment.
Developers of this micro hydro power plant say that the energy output provided by the largest model should be enough approximately for 60 homes, when calculating based on average household energy needs.
According to the company, this kind of turbine does not harm local ecosystems. From the engineering perspective, it is also possible to produce larger scale models, although current lineup is limited at maximum of 100 kW.
