How Advancements in Technology Impact Easier Website Creation

Posted December 28, 2017

The average computer user browses dozens of websites on a daily basis but probably doesn’t think twice about how a website is created. While websites seem like a relatively simple design, there’s a lot about creating a site that the average tech user doesn’t understand.

For decades, if you wanted your own website, you had to hire a professional website designer to build your site from the bottom up; the wait time was long and the price tag was high.

Today, individuals who want their own websites have more options, control over what they want, and as a result, can create their own site through a responsive website builder, which is a “must” for having a successful website. Not only does creating your own site eliminate spending money on a professional designer but there’s more freedom to make changes and customize the site.

Even with the ability to create your own site, it’s important to stay “in the know” when it comes to technological advancements. Advances in technology mean even easier site creation and the ability to improve your website to keep it up to date. Check out some of the ways that tech advancements can impact easier site creation.

HTML5 Replaces Flash

HTML5, also known as the Hypertext Markup Language Version 5, is hardly new technology but it is the most current major version of the HTML. For years website developers have used  Adobe Flash to create the “core” animated or interactive content that we use and see on websites.

While there has been consistent speculation that HTML5 will eventually replace Flash, more websites, such as online gaming sites, are ditching Flash and using HTML5 instead. Making this switch makes it easier for websites to run on any operating system.

Since HTML5 is already cross-compatible with all major web browsers and it’s optimized for mobile websites, not only will website creation continue to be easier but more web users will have access to a site that uses HTML5.

JavaScript and Animation

Since 1995, JavaScript has been an essential part of creating websites as it is a computer programming language. While website creation and web apps go hand in hand with JavaScript, there are other things that JavaScript can do which can make the future of website creation a little easier.

With JavaScript and HTML5’s Canvas Element, you can create and add 2D shapes and even 3D graphics to your website. Today, most of the images that we see and add to websites are static. With JavaScript, we can create moving graphics (and still keep the site running at a fast speed).

Having access to a wide range of JavaScript animation libraries, we can also expect to see an overall increase of animation created on websites as well as the increasingly popular GIFs. While the static image may not go away completely, animation is likely to become a preferred way to create and display information on when building a site.

JavaScript and Creating A More Secure Site

Next to mobile responsiveness a secure site is crucial when you create a website, especially is it’s designed as an e-commerce site. As more people, businesses, and consumers start using cryptocurrency, sites will need to be even more trusted and secure.

One example of creating a more secure method for cryptocurrency (and using JavaScript) is when storing your cryptocurrency. For example, you have the ability to download and create paper wallets rather than having a hot wallet on an exchange.

In general, an example of security for websites using JavaScript is on the login page. These types of solutions aren’t for the everyday coder unless you’re quite experienced, but it’s a good option to know that you can provide your site visitors peace of mind with JavaScript.

AI and VR For A More Engaging Experience

The popularity of virtual reality (VR) in the last couple of years has been a bit of ebb and flow, but as we begin to the increase of VR used on websites it helps to make a user’s experience more engaging. Imagine having the ability to see all angles of product that you’re interested in purchasing.

Not only will it make the user experience better but it can help streamline website creation. Rather than having to upload dozens of images for one product and creating a lot of content to describe the product, VR simply shows the product.

We all know that Artificial Intelligence (AI) has a strong presence in the tech world and in other industries such manufacturing and transportation. Whether we like it or not, AI can make website creation easier especially as it helps us gain a better understanding of our customer base and enhance the overall customer experience.

While new websites continue to go live each day it’s important to stay up to date with the latest advancements in technology and even utilize some of them if you want to show up in search engines, improve your online presence, and to see growth in your customer base.
