Lamborghini Aventador S Roadster – the only mid-rear engine V12 supercar roadster in the world

Posted September 7, 2017

If someone tells you to close your eyes and imagine a supercar, chances are you‘re picturing a Lamborghini. So many people dream of driving a car with a logo of a raging bull, but only a few lucky ones experience the power and character of the legendary brand. Now they have yet another option – Lamborghini introduces Aventador S Roadster.

Making an open-top version of such an extreme supercar is obviously not easy. Aventador S Roadster currently is the only mid-rear engine V12 super sports roadster. And if you are questioning the “extreme” part you should read these numbers: Aventador S Roadster makes 740 hp of power, allowing the supercar to accelerate to a 100 km/h in just 3 seconds.  Lamborghini made sure convertible version of the Aventador S would still handle very well on road and track, but you got to admit – people are mostly buying it for its looks.

Aventador S Roadster does not differ too much from the standard Aventador S coupe. Of course, it doesn’t have a fixed roof, but its origins are still easily recognizable. However, the Roadster has a completely unique aerodynamic character at the rear. You will notice new engine bridge design, which runs from the back window to the rear. Customers will be able to choose from a variety of finishes for this piece of trim or even leave it transparent to show off the V12 engine.

The roof is actually removable manually. Lamborghini made sure that the hard panels are easy to remove and stow away in the front trunk. They are sleek looking and provide enough of headroom when fixed in place. Meanwhile the rear window can be lowered electrically if the driver wishes to let more of V12 roar into the cabin.

Interior of the new Aventador S Roadster does not differ that much from the coupe. Buyers will be asked to choose from a long list of options and trim configurations. They will also have to think what they want to see and feel on the inside of the removable roof panels.

Aventador S Roadster takes all the good technologies from the coupe version. It is four-wheel drive and has four-wheel steering. It is very stable at high speeds and can reach 350 km/h. However, it is also a lot of fun at lower speeds because of improved agility. The Aventador S Roadster weighs just 50 kg more than the coupe, which is a big achievement. Lamborghini says that the two cars will handle virtually the same. Stefano Domenicali, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Lamborghini, said: “the Aventador S Roadster offers the thrill of open air driving without compromising on driving dynamics or the occupants’ comfort, and adds a further luxurious dimension through the personalization options available.”

At the end of the day, it is just another car to dream about. Unless you are very rich – then you are welcome to buy it at any time. Aventador S Roadster is going to cost somewhere around 313,666.00 (taxes not included) and that is before you have a go at the options list. Ouch.
