Post-It Notes That Never Need Charging

Posted October 26, 2016

Microsoft has created a new situated display, the size of a Post-It note, that could be moved and stuck around. The display features ePaper powered by the integrated solar cells, that can generate energy from indoor lighting not just daylight. This electronic note never needs plugging in and charging.

The display is updated from a smart device via Bluetooth. These displays can be told to display the weather, sports results, stock prices and to be updated at regular intervals. Inside there’s a solar panel, a thin film battery, printed circuit board display, Bluetooth low-energy module, a grid of pixel electrodes a small sheet of electronic ink and all stuck together using lamination.
