Shutter That Prevents Hackers From Peering Through Your Webcam

Posted July 25, 2016

Anyone can hack into your computer or phone and turn on the camera without you even knowing it. The only way to guarantee your privacy is to cover the camera when you are not using it. Nope 2.0 is a shutter that prevents hackers from peering through your webcam. It is a magnetic privacy shield designed for desktops, laptops, mobile phones and tablets.

It’s a small rounded rectangle with a couple of tiny magnets inside and an adhesive backing. It is 0.8mm thin, 11mm length and 4.5mm width. It will not prevent your laptop from closing completely. It is outfitted with silicone on both sides to add protection.

The project is currently on Kickstarter  , where it’s raised more than $59,000 with 22 days remaining. To get an early bird deal on an actual chair you’ll need to fork out $5. Estimated shipping is on September this year.
