Ever wish you could ditch those pesky wires? Well, now you can – for good. Draw and erase circuits like it’s no big deal.
Nectro is a specialized pen which filled with a conductive ink created using advanced nano-technology. With Nectro, you can draw functional circuits on photopaper or on our special coated transparent film. And you can also correct your mistakes using the erasing tip — just like a regular eraser.
Nectro Inc., a company behind this new creation just launched their crowdfunding campaign on Kickstarter this week. Launched by Tengyuan Zhang in 2015, Nectro Inc. is seeking $50,000 to manufacture and bring to market their first product, the Nectro pen: a conductive ink pen with a complete tool set for beginners to build their first circuit.
The main applications for the Nectro pen are educational; the team aims to lower barriers to circuit learning through an easy and enjoyable user experience. Similarly to drawing with a traditional ink pen, the Nectro allows users to trace a circuit template with transparent film.
Nectro Inc., originated from the Micro-Nano-Bio Systems Lab at Western University and the team receives mentorship and support from Western’s Entrepreneurship Centre, Propel. “We are very proud of the product our team has built and for the many applications we can explore with the Nectro” says Tengyuan Zhang, Co-founder of Nectro Inc. “The response has been very positive and optimistic throughout our testing phase and we are ready to bring our product to market”.
The crowdfunding campaign for Nectro Inc. will go live through Kickstarter on August 3, 2015. Those interested in supporting the campaign will have a range of pledge and perk options to choose from. The Kickstarter promotion will end on September 3, 2015 and will operate as an all-or-nothing campaign; the Nectro team will only receive funds if they reach the full $50,000 goal.
Nectro for learners and professionals
“Once we created the Nectro pen, we realized that a single tool was not enough to make electric circuits accessible to everyone. So, we also developed several new items to make a complete system: Coated transparent film, magnetic components and a circuit library”, said Tengyuan Zhang. The transparency allows for easy tracing of existing circuit templates. You just put this coated transparent film on top of the circuit template provided, trace the circuit with the Nectro pen, place the magnetic components, then you have a fully functional circuit – it’s that easy!
At one time, you may have thought “It’s a cool product, but I know nothing about circuits! ” Now you don’t need to worry about that because we developed a complete system for people like you. Just pick up the pen and enjoy the fun of circuits!
Want to do your own prototypes? No a problem. Company plants to provide you the Nectro Ultimate adapter which is compatible with any kind of through-hole components. Simply draw your design on a photopaper and attach the components using the ultimate adapter or silver glue, then you have your own prototype.
What if you make a mistake? You don’t want to have to painstakingly redraw that circuit all over again — you may make a mistake again! Don’t worry, we also developed a specially formulated erasing ink, which solves this problem perfectly. We filled this special ink into the other tip of the Nectro conductive pen, we call it the “erasing tip”. It’s as simple to use as a regular eraser. And the best part is, you can redraw your circuit directly on top of the erased area.
Some other products currently on the market claim to be ‘fast dry’, but still take several minutes to dry, and conductivity is not guaranteed — you need to wait for hours for a just-so-so conductivity. But when we’re eager to create something, even several minutes is too long!
With Nectro conductive ink pen, the trace you draw dries in 3 seconds, with instant high conductivity and no residue. It’s faster and reliable than any product on the market, the creators say.
