Simple and elegant design hides an innovative secret – SensorWake is an alarm clock that uses your sense of smell to wake you up.

SensorWake is a smell-based alarm clock, invented by an 18-year-old French entrepreneur Guillaume Rolland. He says that “in the 21st century, everyone should have the right to wake up happy, relaxed and peaceful, ready for a great day”, which is his reason why he invented the SensorWake. It is a rather simple device to use. Creators say it is as easy to use as your espresso machine, and changing out the scents is even faster. There is a great variety of scents – from bacon and freshly squeezed orange juice to seaside or even money. Setting up the SensorWake is a very simple process as it should not be hard to operate an alarm clock.

After setting up the desired time, you only have to insert the capsule with a scent you want to wake up to. For example, you can choose strawberry candy or hot croissant. One capsule will last for sixty mornings. Scent will start filling your bedroom at the desired time through alarm clock’s innovative diffusion system. SensorWake releases just the right amount and you should gently wake up within couple of minutes. You may wonder, if scent is really enough to wake you up. But as trials have showed, it really is a nice way to wake up. During the tests creators have conducted on over 100 people, SensorWake worked perfectly 99 % of the time, waking people up within 2 minutes. Furthermore, in the tests on nursing home patients this clock worked 100 % of the time. However, if you are worried that scent will not be enough, you should know that after 3 minutes SensorWake will start making more conventional audio alarm noise.

It looks like a simple alarm clock, despite the secrets this design hides. Simple LCD screens shows time as well as remaining time of awakenings with the inserted capsule. It plugs into a wall socket, so there is no need for batteries. Simple and effective as it works with both U.S. and European electric systems.

People may be concerned that scent releasing clock may not be good for their health. But creators of this product have thought about that extensively. SensorWake is completely safe for people, as its scents are solvent-free, have no allergen, no chemical risks and do not interfere with healthy air quality. It means they are compliant with all requirements of respective organizations. Furthermore, not only they do no damage to your health, but also are environmentally friendly. Scent capsules are fully recyclable, and free of any volatile organic compounds. All materials used are high-quality and durable to keep them out of landfills.

So what do you think? Waking up after smelling delicious scents seems to be a nice beginning for the day. There are many innovative and fun alarm clocks, but none of them got so many awards and such wide recognition as SensorWake. Currently it is doing really well on Kickstarter. Its campaign has 248 % of its original €50,000 goal already funded. It looks like ability to wake up gently to your favourite smell is a very appealing to many people.
