Everyone loves having lots of pictures of their loved ones. They make our homes feel cosy and memories safely locked in a frame. And electronic picture frames have been around for quite some time already. However, they only show preloaded pictures in a form of a slideshow, which, according to some people, was just not good enough. Now these people introduce Skylight – smart picture frame that will not only display pictures, but will also allow for some interaction with your loved ones.

Pictures, received into a dedicated email address will appear on the screen in less than 60 seconds and users will be able to send “thank you” just by tapping on the screen.

Pictures, received into a dedicated email address will appear on the screen in less than 60 seconds and users will be able to send “thank you” just by tapping on the screen.

It looks like a usual electronic picture frame – screen, surrounded by stylish frame. However, it is much more than that. It is connected through Wi-Fi to its own dedicated email address. When someone sends a picture to this mailbox, it is displayed on the frame. Therefore, memorable moments of your friends and family will just appear at your home, regardless of where they are at the moment.

Multiple people can send pictures to that email address – grandmother will get pictures from all her grandkids. And it does not really matter is person is not good with technology – Skylight digital frame is easy to set-up. It will automatically power up when plugged into a power source. It will detect available Wi-Fi networks and customer will have to choose one with a tap on the touchscreen. The entire procedure should only take 1-2 minutes to take Skylight out of its box and have it working.

Touchscreen itself is very useful feature as well. It allows swiping through photos, deleting them and freezing the frame on a favourite picture. You will also be able to send thanks to person, who sent you picture. It will only take a tap on a heart symbol on the screen and Skylight will send an email to them letting them know you loved the picture. Therefore, it is probably a first ever picture frame that is a two way street between people who made the picture and people, who have it in their homes.

Skylight is a high quality product. It features 7 inch LED display with a touchscreen. It can show pictures of different formats, such as JPEG, JPG, BMP, PNG and GIF, transitioning from one to picture to another in 8 seconds. If person decides to freeze the frame on one picture, a notification will appear on the screen when new pictures are received. It takes less than 60 seconds for a picture to get from email to the Skylight frame. Skylight does not use batteries. Instead it comes with a power cord, so that it would never run out of power and there would be no trouble maintaining it.

It is also said that software of the digital picture frame will improve over time. Updates will be installed automatically, providing new features to Skylight users. Such features might be video or text-on-photo capabilities as well as other useful functions.

It is said that Skylight digital picture frame is a great gift to ones you want to keep in touch with. You will be able to surprise your loved ones with new pictures from your adventures, allow them to keep following your life no matter how far away you are. Currently Kickstarter campaign to start mass production of the Skylight is doing well. Page already has 164 % of its original $30,000 goal already funded. Interest in this product is huge and we can expect that it will change way people send pictures for many families and friends.
