mBot – An Educational Robot To Learn Programming

Posted April 15, 2015

mBot is an educational robot for helping kids learn robotics and programming with fun. It can help kids to get an experience on mechanics, electronics, control system and computer science. Team says, that their goal is to create an affordable, easy-to-use and open source robot for per kid.

mBot contains of 45 pieces available to assemble in 10 mins.

Scratch2.0 is popular as a graphical programming software, so the team developed mBlock a new software, which uses Scratch-style coding to program Arduino and robots. Arduino is an open-source electronic prototyping platform. The team also designed mBot’s electronics based on Arduino platform , which is easy for kids to use and extend.

There are designed two available wireless communication instead of wired USB cable, so users can enjoy wireless programming to control robots without the limit of USB cable. The Bluetooth Version comes with a Bluetooth module and is suitable for individual usage.

The project is launched on the Kickstarter. The price is $49 and estimated delivery is on June of 2015.
