Own A Solar Panel In A Farm Far Away

Posted March 28, 2015

How to get power of the sun, if you live in the apartment or in the house where the roof structure is incompatible for solar panels? A startup CloudSolar lets people to buy a solar panel, or a share in one, on a farm that is expected to be completed by 2016. Electricity generated by the solar panels will be sold to local utilities.

Solar panel owners are promised 80 percent of the total income created by the panels over the next 25 years. The owners can monitor how much energy is produced by their solar panels, and how much carbon dioxide emissions it is estimated to offset, through an app.

The crowd-funding campaign is 96% funded, by the time of writing this post. For $250 you can own a quarter of solar panel. The electricity rate has been and is expected to increase rapidly in the U.S., which is good news for the panel owner who would hold them long-term. If you are the panel owner, you may transfer the ownership to others as a gift or transaction at any time.
