The Raspberry Pi Foundation and element14 have revealed the Raspberry Pi 2 Model B. The board is six times faster than the previous model, it comes with a 1GB of RAM and a new Broadcom quadcore processor. It boots up in less than half the time of previous models and allows you to connect up to four USB devices.
All cases and 3rd party add-on boards designed for the Model B+ will be fully compatible, because it is an identical board layout and footprint as the Model B+.
Because it has an ARMv7 processor, it can run the full range of ARM GNU/Linux distributions, including Snappy Ubuntu Core, as well as Microsoft Windows 10. According to the The Raspberry Pi Foundation: “The Raspberry Pi 2-compatible version of Windows 10 will be available free of charge to makers”.
It’s selling for the same price as the previous model – $35.
