The Meizu MX-series phone with Ubuntu is expected to launch in China and select European markets in the first quarter of 2015. Meizu will feature a new version of the company’s FlyMe OS, based on Ubuntu. While the core software will be radically different from Meizu’s Android-based OS, the user experience is expected to remain similar.
The video doesn’t get too deep into the OS, but just watching the finger flick through menus gives you a good sense of how the phone runs. Will it be able to launch a full Ubuntu desktop session?
It’s one of the most intriguing features of Ubuntu Mobile, a smartphone that essentially could work as a desktop computer.
