Amar Chitra Katha was founded in 1967, the imprint has more than 400 titles that retell stories from the great Indian epics, mythology, history, folklore, and fables in a comic book format. It was created by Anant Pai, and published by India Book House. In 2007, the imprint and all its titles were acquired by a new venture called ACK Media. On September 17, 2008, a new website by ACK-media was launched.
Microsoft has also announced a special introductory offer, which allows the users to download five comic books (Shakuntala, Birbal the Wise, Tirupati, Tenzing Norgay and Anant Pai) for free during the first month. After the initial five downloads, each copy will cost Rs 55 per download. The comic books, which have already been downloaded by a user, can be accessed from various devices using a single user account by either using Flipbook mode (standard, page by page) or Panel-by-Panel mode (preferable for smaller devices).
Users can even get three additional free titles, even after the initial month. Amar Chitra Katha has is a renowned name in India’s comic book arena and has been publishing comic books on Indian mythology, history, and culture for a few decades now.
